Most destination guides are written without reference to the specific realities of the over-60 traveller. A destination that's rated "accessible" may mean accessible to a fit 35-year-old. The Indian Ocean Islands — Why They Work So Well

Europe — The High-Infrastructure Option

For travellers who prioritise medical infrastructure above all else, Europe remains the strongest option. Ubiquitous emergency care, familiar languages, manageable distances between cities and a well-developed senior tourism infrastructure. The tradeoff: lower experiential contrast, higher costs in many destinations, and the cognitive familiarity that makes some travellers feel they haven't really gone anywhere.
